THE IDEA
An image and a material in one surface.
Direct digital UV printing applies the artwork to a suitable prepared wooden panel. Photographs, portraits, landscapes, illustrations, abstract patterns, quotations and lettering can all be part of the design. The grain and colour of the chosen board influence the final appearance.
A wood print may feel more tactile than a conventional paper print in a frame. It can be made as a single personalised piece or specified as a repeatable component for a larger interior or retail project.
MATERIAL CHOICE
The surface changes the result.
Raw wood, plywood, coated wood and MDF do not print identically. Natural grain and porosity may remain visible; a smoother or white-coated board can provide a more even base for detailed photography and brand colours. Where the wood tone should show through, the artwork and ink layers are planned around it.
Substrate flatness, finish and compatibility should be checked before production. A sample on the intended material is the best way to approve colour, detail and the amount of visible grain.
WHERE TO USE IT
Four ways to bring artwork onto wood.
01 / INTERIORS
Home and office décor
Printed panels can become wall art or decorative features in a living room, office, café or hotel. Panel dimensions and the mounting method should suit the wall.
02 / ENTRANCES
Wooden nameplates
Names, logos and decorative motifs can be printed on a wooden entrance sign. For an exterior position, choose a suitable board and protective finish for the exposure.
03 / PERSONAL
Photographs and gifts
Family portraits, pets, travel views or wedding photographs can be transferred to wood for a personal display or occasion gift.
04 / RETAIL
Shop display boards
Printed wooden panels can carry brand graphics, product stories, shelf messages or display backdrops in a retail space.
DECORATIVE PANELS
Make the dimensions fit the room.
A custom print can be produced for a particular wall, with the image and crop planned for the available space. Plywood or other suitable wood-based panels can be cut to the agreed size and shape, then printed with photography, patterns or typography.
Direct printing places the image on the board, so a separate glass cover is not an inherent part of the construction. Cleaning and handling still depend on the wood, ink and any protective coating selected for the piece.
For offices and hospitality spaces, printed wood can connect an interior theme across wall panels, furniture elements and signage.
IMAGE SELECTION
Let the grain play a part.
Wood can add variation and warmth to a design. Fine detail and light colours may need a smooth base or a white ink layer, while bold shapes can work with a visible natural texture.
Agree whether the desired appearance is photographic, rustic or deliberately aged before the material and artwork are finalised. That decision affects how much of the substrate shows through the print.

AT THE ENTRANCE
A name or logo with natural character.
Wooden nameplates can combine a name, house number or business logo with a graphic background. Lettering, contrast, board thickness and mounting details should be chosen for the viewing distance and the intended location.
The original post described wood nameplates for entrances. For any sign exposed to rain or direct sunlight, the board grade, edges, protective system and maintenance plan need to be confirmed. A printed wooden surface does not have one universal outdoor lifespan.
ONE PHOTO. A DIFFERENT SURFACE.
A photograph can become a personal display piece.
Scenery, pets, family portraits, wedding images and other meaningful photographs can be printed on a compatible wood panel. A quote, date or short message can be included in the artwork. The finished piece may be displayed at home or given for a birthday, anniversary or wedding.
Image quality depends on the original file, finished size and board surface. Confirm the crop and request a material sample when faithful skin tones or fine detail matter. For a keepsake, position and care it according to its finish rather than assuming permanent resistance to sun or moisture.
FOR BRANDED SPACES
Carry the brand into the display.
A printed wood board can serve as a product backdrop, point-of-sale panel, wall feature or information sign. The natural surface can complement a store concept when the colour palette and typography are planned together with the furniture and fixtures.
For several stores, give each panel an approved size, artwork version, material and mounting specification. That helps keep the graphic intent consistent while allowing for location-specific dimensions.
PRACTICAL CHECKS
Specify the finished use before printing.
Consider whether customers will touch the surface, how it will be cleaned, the expected campaign period and whether the panel is wall mounted or part of a display structure. A protective finish may be useful for a high-contact location, subject to testing on the selected material.
Printed wood can support brand presentation, while its effect on customer behaviour depends on the wider store design and merchandising.

Real Projects. Real Results.
LET’S DISCUSS YOUR PROJECT
What should you send for a wood printing quote?
Share the artwork or photograph, preferred wood or panel type, finished dimensions, quantity and intended location. Tell us if the graphic needs cutting, mounting, a specific colour result or protective finishing. Boran Reklam can review the material and print approach for your project.
